Lucknow Super Giants posted a 5-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday as they chased down the target of 191 with 24 deliveries to spare.
LSG limited SRH to 190/9 as Shardul Thakur starred for the visitors with a four-wicket haul. Travis Head top-scored for the hosts with a 47-run innings, while Aniket Verma and Nitish Kumar Reddy made sizeable contributions of 36 and 32 runs, respectively.
Mohammed Shami gave SRH an early breakthrough with the dismissal of Aiden Markram but Nicholas Pooran and Mitch Marsh put up a brilliant stand to take the game away from the home team. Pooran’s 70 off 26 and Marsh’s 52 off 31 put LSG in charge before Pat Cummins removed the pair.
However, the damage was already done as LSG finished off the game with nearly four overs to spare with David Miller and Abdul Samad taking the Lucknow unit over the line despite the fall of Rishabh Pant and Ayush Badoni.
